Prognostic Factors in a Multicenter Study for Treatment of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in Adults
نویسنده
چکیده
In a prospective multicenter study. 368 acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) patients aged 1 5 to 65 years were treated with an intensified induction and reinduction regimen; 272 (73.9%) achieved complete remission (CR). The median remission duration (MRD) is 24.3 months, and the probability of being in continuous CR (CCR) at >5 years is .37. The median survival for all 368 patients is 27.5 months, and the probability of being alive at 5 years is .39. For the 272 patients in remission the median survival is 58.4 months, and the probability of being alive at 5 years is .49. A lower CR rate was seen for patients with bleeding at diagnosis or with splenomegaly/hepatosplenomegaly. The prognostic factors unfavorable for remission duration were time to CR >4 weeks v <4 weeks (P = .0002), age >35 years v <35 years (P = .0008), leukocyte count >30,000/

Interleukin-23 Receptor Gene Variants in Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and Their Relation to Prognostic Factors
Background: Interleukin (IL)-23 has an important role in tumor immune regulation. Objective: To investigate the possible association of interleukin-23 receptor (IL23R) gene variants rs1884444, rs10889677 and rs11209026 with development of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Methods: The IL23R variants were studied in 164 ALL patients and compared to 175 healthy controls by polymerase chain reac...

The German Multicenter Trial for Adult Acute Lymphoblastic (ALL) and Acute Undifferentiated (AUL) Leukemia was undertaken to improve remission duration by using a modified form of an intensified induction regimen successful in childhood ALL (Riehm et al. 1980). The results from the pilot study, with a total of 162 patients and a median observation time of 41'2 years, now allow some conclusions ...
متن کاملPresenting Clinical and Laboratory Data of Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia
Abstract Background Leukemia is the most prevalent childhood cancer and Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) constitutes 75% of all cases. The most frequent presenting symptoms are fever, weight loss and pallor. Early detection of clinical symptoms positively affects timely diagnosis. The objectives of the present study were to assess frequency of presenting symptoms, laboratory data, immune ph...
متن کاملThe role of ATP-binding cassette transporter A2 in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia multidrug resistance
Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is one of the most prevalent hematologic malignancies in children. Although the cure rate of ALL has improved over the past decades, the most important reason for ALL treatment failure is multidrug resistance (MDR) phenomenon. The current study aims to explain the mechanisms involved in multidrug resistance of childhood ALL, and introduces ATP-binding cassette...

متن کاملThe relation between end of induction minimal residual disease and different risk factors in patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia
Background: Malignant disorder with B or T stem cell basis leads to development and continuation of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) due to aggregation of blast cells in bone marrow. The environmental, genetic, and demographic factors may influence the disease relapse. The objective of this study was to assess the relation between end of induction minimal residual disease and different risk f...
